Slang of the day! "Check your vitals."

Means:
To check your email, myspace, facebook, blog, and/or any daily essential websites.
Eg. Hey, wanna go get something to eat?
Sure, but lemme finish checkin' my vitals first.

It is first necessary to define what sort of English u want to learn...I don't know "what" 's the best,but if u have smth habits, the better to u practise your language in englishspeaking countries))

Sort of English? :-) It's funny, but it's true! How do you think what sort of English we will be prepared by the knowledge of SGU? So I think that in this deal all the "sorts " are great! That's why I think that we should learn very much and the more the better for us, you know! If somebody knows good books in English or may be Online courses which can be effevtivly used, please, write about them here. I think that any means to an end (все средства хороши) :-)

If u want to improve ur language skills just read english books. But the complicated ones. For example Ray Bradbury or Oscar Wald, they really do have brilliant language.
And about the sort.. London english is the best. If u study it, u can easily get used to every kind of english.

Hello, Helen, hello all! As for me I think that the best way to improve English is to be many-sided or all-round person. I think that we should read as much as possible but also do not forget to read different books on absolutely different language, I mean that it can be literary language, technical, most speaking language and others. But it should be different and it's never the less if this studying could be interesting organised. So there are a lot of procedures. May be you know some of them? What about video and audio courses?

Do u really think that technical books are exciting?))
U can listen to some recordings, they should be in the language laboratory of ur university.
The other way - to visit the UK. There u can speak, and hear, and learn more.
No USA. There u'll only spoil ur language skills.

My second profession programmer! So I'd like to read and learn about different news in English and I sure you that these books are written in a good manner and they can be a great helper in your education. Mostly I read books on web design and all what can be used for that purpose: html, php, flash,xhtml and many others. The best thing all of them cannot be found in Russian language as a matter of fact and most of them written in well hard English. So it excites me!!! :-) And I recommend for all to find smth that excites you mostly and that written in English mostly. IMHO, it is the best motivation to improve your English.
